Saelyn Samhainborn

"Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
-Margaret Mead

Merry Meet,

My name is Saelyn Samhainborn (Sailin' Sow-in-born), and I am an Eclectic Wiccan. Like many of us I dabbled and wandered about a bit before I answered the call. I was not raised Christian, and in fact even in my dabblings I never felt the spiritual pull. It was with a great deal of surprise that I read my first book on Wicca, Green Witchcraft by Ann Moura. I didn't read it because I saw myself as a seeker, but rather because I was in an argument about what Witchcraft was. So with great surprise I felt the door to spirituality crack open and I answered the call.

I started to get seriously interested in Wicca around early 1996 and seeing as I'd been coached by the popular Eclectic Wiccan authors that only the Goddess and God could make you a Wiccan I set out to receive their blessing. I Dedicated myself to a year and a day of study July of that year. I spent that year and a day pouring myself into my studies within the pages of ever book on Wicca I could find. I immersed myself in nature and spent hours simply listening for Their voices. Every step I took seemed only to confirm my suspicious that this was where I was meant to be. I understood that what I was doing was non-traditional, and that the only witness to my oath would be the Gods. I self-initiated in July of 1997 and gave myself to the Lady and the Lord as their Priestess. The Gods responded by saying " and how will you serve us?"

I moved to Florence and met a number of Pagans and became a  part of Moon River Circle along with Damara Autumn Storm and Mike. Damara hosted discussion nights and open rituals, and it was there that I first began learning how to work with a group in ritual.  Through MRC I also met Willow. Flicker, Willow, Mike and I left MRC in December of 1999. By Yule of that year FHC was born rather accidentally.

I became an initiate of FHC Yule of 1999.

My own specific path of Wicca is truly Eclectic and non-traditional,  but I have great respect for the traditional origins of  Wicca and have been strongly influenced by the Goddess movement along the way. My Matron Goddess is Kali, but I also feel strong connections to Kwan Yin, Ganesha, Hecate, and Cernunnos among others. The Gods chose that I would serve them through teaching and working within the Pagan community to give support and guidance to other solitaries. I am forever a student of this path, and blessed to have the opportunity to learn from so many. I love to drum, camp, create altars and share Reiki.
